You and I were meant to fly; higher than the clouds will sail across the sky

 So, I realized in my last blog entry that I had accidentally said that I didn't watch any of the movies from my year list.  To correct that statement, I did which was Meet the Robinsons and I had also forgotten that I've since watched National Treasure: Book of Secrets.  So, 2 down and I think 8 more to go.  To give a quick comment on Book of Secrets, it was ok.  I wouldn't put it on my top 10 list but it was survivable.  The romance at least wasn't as cheap but the villain was too good.  I think my main problem is I really don't like Nicholas Cage's acting.  He's just kinda blah.  Oh well; at least it's better than 2001: A Space Odyssey which I had the unfortunate opportunity to watch.  I would probably put 2001 on the top 10 for one of the worst movies I've seen.  It was horribly boring, had no story line and was...weird.

Summer is unfortunately coming to an end but it has managed to be somewhat productive.  The family managed to paint the downstairs 2 different colors.  Mom and dad managed to choose one color that wasn't pastel and is actually a darker color (of course if me and my sisters had it our way, the darker color would be something close to black :P ).  The ceiling was also done so it no longer has a checkered look to it.  We're finally getting rid of stuff and getting the downstairs cleaned and we'll soon (hopefully) be painting the entryway and the hallway upstairs.  Aside from doing renovations on the house, we've done a couple of weekend trips to L.A. and Quebec City.  Both were great family times though Quebec was a lot colder than usual and has unfortunately been suffering from an extreme amount of cloudy and rainy days.  We did manage to get 2 semi-sunny days while there which was nice.  One first with the Quebec trip is that we flew there instead of the typical 13 hour drive we usually do.  I have to say that it was nice traveling only 2-3 hours and not being exhausted when getting to my uncle's place.  While there, I tried Dance Dance Revolution for the first time in my life.  Let's just say I have no dancing coordination and failed several times (to the massive amusement of my cousins and sisters).  I don't think I've heard my cousin, Felix, grunt so many times in frustration as he did when I was "dancing" (or rather attempting).

To finish up, a macbook has recently entered the family of (extemely old) computers (we have one mac that dates way back though thankfully it's a  small dinosaur).  I've always liked macs better than pcs and I'm quite happy with the macbook.  Certain things are a bit slower but overall performance is good and I actually trust it more than a pc (thinking back to the time in grade 12 where the biology class had to write a scientific paper and everyone or almost everyone in the class pretty much lost there papers on their pcs and I was happy to have my paper done on an old, dependable mac).  Anyway, this unfortunately enters into the huge argument of which computer is better, Macs or PCs.  I personally like Macs better just cause I've had better experiences with them but I have heard others having huge problems with Macs and therefore liking PCs better.  So, I will say they both have their pros and cons and the best computer is one that fits your preferences.

While your sleeping I have already escaped

So, extremely long time since I last wrote on here. I have finally gotten back the desire to blog (possibly from reading another blog). It's going to be somewhat long so hang in for the long ride or skip to whatever parts seem interesting.
First important thing is I'm finally finished my bachelor (woot woot ^_^). Graduated on the 22nd of May and actually got to see some friends graduating with me also. Next day it was off to the Aloha state. The whole family went and we stayed on the Island of Oahu near Waikiki beach. While I usually like going to new places, part of me tends to miss home. Slightly different in this case; for the first time I felt I could live there which is something I wouldn't say about L.A. It was so beautiful there and warm and actually pretty clean. I don't think I've ever seen streets and sidewalks kept so clean!!!! Every day there were people out cleaning the sidewalks and streets. Bird pooped, someone was there cleaning off the sidewalk. I don't even remember seeing gum on the sidewalk.
Most of the time there was spent at the beach and shopping though for once in my life I avoided most of the shops there. I just didn't feel right about walking into Gucci, Prada, or some of the other top names in flipflops, tank and skirt. The beach was sooo nice. The water was a beautiful clear bluish colour and the perfect temperature for swiming. I tried a bit of body surfing with a boogie board but wasn't too succesful. Sarah and Bek seemed closer to suceeding than me. They were also in the water more than I was even though Bek was worried about sharks coming and eating her up. If I ever go there again, I think I will take lessons and learn on a surf board.
Since coming home and aside from going through warm weather withdrawl, I've had the fun of experiencing my first interview. It went ok. The main thing that bothered me was I wasn't able to speak very loud and couldn't get myself to speak any louder. The people interviewing me didn't say anything about me being to quiet but I'm pretty sure I was a bit on the quiet side. Other thing is I'm not sure how good my answers were but oh well, not much I can do about that now.
This past Sunday I got to go to my very first rock concert in Moncton. The bands playing were Barlowgirl and Kutless. They were awesome. I liked the bands before but hearing them live was a whole new experience. Most interesting part of the concert would have to be that when Kutless came out, a sign was flashed up on the screens asking people not to mosh or people surf. As a result, Kutless didn't get a lot of energy from the crowd for the first song (plus they didn't see the sign; at least I don't think they did). The lead singer, John Micah, decides to encourage some energy into the crowd (since I'm pretty sure he felt the first song was a bit on the dead side) by getting them to mosh XD. Energy from the crowd when Barlowgirl was out definitely came back once the crowd was encouraged to mosh again plus John Micah was great with the crowd and knew how to get things more serious and worshipful. The cherry to all of this is at the end when Kutless came out for their encore song, John Micah decides to go interact with the crowd and decides to do a little people surfing (bye bye sign lol). Anyway, as safety minded as the whoever put the sign up was, they really weren't being realistic in my opinion (you can disagree if you want but generally at a rock concert people mosh and people surf).
I'll try to put the pictures that I have on facebook at somepoint in time. Unfortunately the concert pics aren't that great though I did manage to get a quick snapshot of Barlowgirl at the autograph table when heading to the bus. So, that is my summary of the major events so far. Minor events include water fight with the youth group, getting 2 new cds and getting my commoner up to level 20 on an online game I play lol. Movies seen lately (which I don't think managed to be any on my list) include No Reservations, The Bucket List, Meet the Robinsons, She's the Man, and Jumper. NR and StM were pretty much chic flicks though the first I would classify as adult chic flick while the second would fall into teen chic flick and therefore had more eye rolling moments. Bucket List was interesting and actually had a lot less swearing than I would have expected from Jack. Part of it could have been that I watched it on the airplane and some of it might have been sensored out but I don't think so. Meet the Robinsons was (and I'm going to hate saying this) a good family movie. It had the usual Disney heart wrenching moments and a good storyline that can be enjoyed by both children and adults. Jumper...what can I say about that...um...Hayden Christianson (sp?) can sorta act? The storyline was interesting but the whole thing could have been better. HC's character is still a bit on the whiny side though graciously less than Anakin Skywalker.
Anyway, off to go watch fireworks ^_^.

I've been dreaming of a true love's kiss

So, I have realized that I've not been as active on posting here as I had originally planned (not that many people really notice or pay attention). For my own benefit or conscience, I will try to keep this up a little better than I have but will not make any promises. Anyway, the new year has sprung upon us and it is now (disturbingly in a sense) 2008. As far as resolutions go, they're a bit on the personal side and I can't say whether or not I managed to accomplish my resolutions from last year. So, I will do a review on my movie list. Those that actually pay attention to this will have noticed that I failed to watch a few of the movies that I was hoping to watch by the end of the year. Those were the last 2 movies in the Matrix series, Chicken Little, and Spiderman 3 (though, in my defense, I did watch half of it on the plain ride from Toronto to Halifax during the summer).
This year for my movie list, I would like to watch Prince Caspian, The Dark Knight, The Bourne Ultimatum, TMNT, Game Plan, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Shooter, Live Free or Die Hard, Meet the Ronbinsons, and Spiderman 3. A couple movies watched recently that were pretty good were Transformers and Enchanted. Transformers had the right amount of action and romance and plot development was done well. As much as I'm not a huge fan of romantic commedies, Enchanted was actually pretty good. Not quite as funn as it appeared in the preview but it was still quite entertaining and something I would watch again.
